TRIESTE – The impetuous growth of Alpe Adria , an intermodal logistics company based in the port of Trieste, continues: in 2023 the turnover exceeded 100 million euros.
While waiting for the official numbers which will be presented in March, the data was anticipated yesterday by the CEO, Antonio Gurrieri, during the presentation of the study on the employment and economic effects of the ports of Trieste and Monfalcone.
The intermodal logistics company based in the port of Trieste had closed 2022 with 5,650 trains operated, 657 thousand TEUs moved (land and sea traffic), with a turnover of 86 million euros (+64% compared to the previous year). The 2023 budget will be formalized in the next few months at the shareholders' meeting (Port Authority, Mercitalia and Friulia, regional finance company).
In the meantime, Alpe Adria remains committed to the objective of developing the international network of railway connections. In this regard, even if there are no official confirmations, it seems that a lot of focus is being placed, during 2024, on the growth of the hub constituted by the Cervignano interport (85% owned by Interporto Trieste), in collaboration with the Region Friuli Venezia Giulia.
There was news a few days ago, among other things, about the creation of a connection between the interports of Pordenone and Cervignano , to allow the former to exploit the Trieste-Duisburg route.
Among the commitments that will affect Alpe Adria in the near future, there is also that of transforming conventional train traffic, where this has left free tracks, into intermodal.
