< Back to list

As prominent actor in the field of international rail freight, UIC actively promotes corridor development as a tool to boost goods transport via rail. Corridors are also seen as a key tool to promote of international trade and cooperation.

Part of UIC’s activities is to monitor the evolution of Eurasian corridors and to stimulate concrete proposals that can lead to the operational implementation of rail freight corridors. For this, UIC acts as facilitator on behalf of its members and relies on key partnership agreements.

On April 22nd UIC presents its latest study on the Eurasian rail traffic with focus on the development of the middle and southern corridors. This study provides a wealth of information on the current level of development of the corridors, highlights bottlenecks and provides insights on the development potential. UIC presents concrete recommendations on how to strengthen their development so to realise their full potential.
