New records set on the Middle Corridor to Turkey

On the Middle Corridor a new record was set by a freight train traveling from China to Turkey. Originating from Xi’an in the centre of China, the freight train set record figures on the Azerbaijani part, and again on Turkish territory. It arrived in the Kosekoy station of Izmit last week: twelve days after crossing the China-Kazakh border of Khorgos.

The rail freight journey was organised by the members of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Consortium: ADY Container (Azerbaijan), KTZ Express (Kazakhstan), GR Logistics (Georgia) and Pacific Eurasia Logistics (Turkey). “Although there are some restrictions due to the epidemiological situation with the coronavirus, cargo transportation on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route continues as before”, ADY Container proudly announced.

Journey details

The train consisted of 43 40-foot containers loaded with mainly medical supplies, fabrics, pipes, compressors for refrigeration systems, solar panels and other equipment. It entered Kazakhstan territory at the Altinkol station. From here, it headed for the Kazakh port of Aktau, where feeder ship ‘Beket-Ata’ operated by ADY Container LLC delivered the containers to the Port of Baku in Azerbaijan. From the Port of Baku the containers travelled to Akhalkalaki station in Georgia, and then to the city of Izmit in Turkey by Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.

The journey from the port of Baku to Boyuk-Kesik station, covering Azerbaijani territory, was made in a record time of fourteen hours, ten hours faster than the regular 24 hours. The travel through Turkey was covered in a record fifty hours, seventy hours faster than the standard time for this journey.
