Combined Transport grows in Poland despite the pandemic

 

Despite the pandemic, the Polish combined transport sector was able to further increase its growth in 2020.

 

According to the UTK Railway Authority, the volume transported rose by 25% to 2.67 million TEU in 2020 and the volume transported by 22% to 23.8 million tonnes. The transport performance increased by 11% to 7.8 billion tkm.

In the fourth quarter, the transport volume even rose by as much as 32% year-on-year to 757,565 TEU, while the transport volume increased by 29% to 6.7 million tonnes and the transport performance by 14% to 2.1 billion tkm.

 

According to UTK, combined transport achieved a share of more than 10% of the total volume of rail freight traffic in Poland for the first time in 2020. In 2020, the market leader among providers with their own traction services was PKP Cargo (share: 42.7%), followed by DB Cargo (12%) and PCC Intermodal (11.8%). (Source: Rail Business)
