COVID-19: A crash test for the resilience of the maritime logistics chain?

Dear Madam, Dear Sir,

Dear colleagues,

Due to the lack of clarity and visibility over the sanitary situation in Brussels and the restrictions with respect to the maximum number of guests who can physically attend an event, we have decided to postpone our Sixth Annual Stakeholders' Conference to the 1st of December, 2021.

The Conference will be held in a hybrid format with guests and speakers physically attending the event in Brussels. And we hope to virtually welcome many of you as well.

As already announced, this year's topic will be “COVID-19: A crash test for the resilience of the maritime logistics chain?”, and the Conference will be a valuable opportunity for experts and representatives of the maritime logistics sector as well as institutional stakeholders to exchange and reflect upon COVID-19 consequences on the sector.

Within the maritime logistics chain, all actors are still experiencing the effects of COVID-19, but not only, for the better and the worse...

How did the EU supply chain resist to pressure? Did COVID-19 put in evidence the limits of the globalization model?

Was COVID-19 a catalyst revealing chronic inefficiencies and imbalances in the functioning of the maritime logistic chain? Can we
blame COVID-19 for everything that went and is still going wrong in the maritime logistics chain?

Who are the winners and losers in international trade?

How is international trade doing? Is there a need for additional transport and port capacities? Are new trade patterns emerging? Is consumer behavior changing after COVID-19?

How did European port companies cope with the COVID-19 challenges to provide full services to European industries and consumers?

Did COVID-19 stimulate/boost digitalization within the maritime logistics chain? Are the industries which are part of the maritime logistics industry decarbonizing and moving fast enough towards climate neutrality?

Were regulators and policy makers overwhelmed by the COVID-19 crisis or was the response adequate and useful?

What was the role of competition regulators during these last two years? Did their action support the resilience of the maritime logistics chain? Did their inaction aggravate the imbalances in the maritime logistic chain?

Which lessons could be learnt from COVID-19 and other events that disrupted the maritime logistics chain? What can we expect from policy makers and regulators?

How will EU port stakeholders, shipping companies and logistics actors accommodate the necessary decarbonization of the sector while preserving their competitiveness in a post COVID-19 world?

Our event will consist of two sessions from 9:00 a.m. to 13:30 p.m. and will include key note speeches and two panel discussions involving representatives from different industries as well as institutional stakeholders.

A more detailed program will follow and you will receive a registration link in the course of October.

Looking forward to welcoming you.

Kind regards,

FEPORT
