The railway liberalisation, initiated by the Directive 91/440 of the European Commission is one of the essential tasks of the transport policy, which is of utmost importance for the future of Combined Transport. With the publication of its White Book on the revitalisation of rail, the European Commission has proposed as a first step the creation of freight freeways and has written down its views in the communication on the 'transeuropean freight freeways'.

 

The present position paper is issued by the most important customers active in the international transportation of goods by rail, namely the 17 Road-Rail Combined Transport operators of the UIRR.
