Position paper: Combined Transport and Rail Liberalisation: from Theory to Practice 01/02/00

< Back to list

Rail transport is going through a particularly difficult phase. The liberalisation process, which it is now the turn of the rail transport sector to be subjected to, undeniably represents a fundamental reform, necessarily involving changes in relationships and mentalities. But this does not explain as some from this sector attempt to do, the present drastic decline in the quality of rail services.

The combined transport operators united in the UIRR, whose sole purpose is to promote the shifting of freight traffic from road to rail, consider it important to present their point of view on this worrying development.
