The recently elected Board of Directors of UIRR held its first meeting, where decisions were made to reinforce the leadership of the association: Michail Stahlhut, CEO of the Swiss combined transport operator Hupac, has been elected Chairman of the Board of UIRR and Jürgen Albersmann, CEO of the German trimodal operator Contargo, will serve as the Vice-Chairman.

Michail Stahlhut and Jürgen Albersmann will lead a UIRR Board of Directors that is representative from a geographic point of view and diverse from a business model perspective. Supported by a dedicated and competent UIRR team, the association is well geared to propel Combined Transport to the performance level demanded by the European economy and citizens.

The newly elected Chairman of UIRR Michail Stahlhut stated:

“There is a lot to be done to attract even more freight to climate-friendly intermodal transport - let's move forward with the standardisation and digitalisation of our sector, but also with good legislation that will allow us to achieve our growth target: first of all, the revision of the Combined Transport Directive and a regulation that supports the availability of capacity on the European rail infrastructure".

The UIRR now has 50 members, representing the vast majority of the sector in Europe. "Intermodal transport is the solution provider for logistics, the environment and safe working conditions" says Michail Stahlhut, who is serving his second term on the UIRR Board. "I am pleased to be able to make an active contribution, together with the UIRR team and my colleagues on the UIRR Board, to the development of sustainable framework conditions for the growth of our sector”.

Jürgen Albersmann, the newly elected Vice-Chairman of UIRR added:

"Combined transport is typically a European, cross-border business. The UIRR's activities in Brussels are essential to promote a uniform political and operational approach throughout Europe".

UIRR Director General Ralf-Charley Schultze underlines the positioning of the UIRR as an industry association with a strong focus on the development and dissemination of standards and best practices in the areas of supply chain visibility, transhipment, wagons and customs.

Door-to-door Combined Transport is the most productive solution to the European Union’s needs for competitiveness and resilience and for connecting European economies. No other industrial-scale solution of moving freight over longer distances matches the offer of Combined Transport in energy, labour, infrastructure and environmental efficiency.
