Intermodal freight transport is an essential solution to meaningfully slow down climate change and environmental degradation, at the heart of the European Green Deal and the European Climate Law.
In addition to the changes to be brought about by Mobility Package 1, road congestion, transcontinental freight, the Belt and Road Initiative and driver shortage are all challenges for which intermodal transport can deliver a solution.

He will highlight how Member State governments view the role of intermodal freight transport within the efforts to decarbonise their economies. |

European Parliament Transport and Tourism Committee (TRAN) First Vice Chair, MEP István Újhelyi will share the insights of the European electorate and articulate their expectations in light of the European Green Deal and the greenhouse gas emission cuts envisioned therein. |
Closing words and conference summary will be offered by Magda Kopczynska, Director D of DG MOVE on behalf of the European Commission Services. |
