With plans to start moving semi-trailers by rail in Spain, VTG introduced the Sdggmrs T4000 wagon for this purpose.

VTG, a key player in the rail freight industry, is strengthening its position on the Spanish market with the introduction of the Sdggmrs T4000 wagon. This move aims to transition of semi-trailers onto rails. The initiative is supported financially by the Next Generation Funds under the Mercancías 30 program, administered by the Spanish Ministry of Transport. The Sdggmrs T4000 wagon, tailored for the Iberian gauge, stands out for its capacity to accommodate both craneable and non-craneable trailers, a feature that broadens its applicability across various freight categories.

The Sdggmrs T4000 (also known as the T4000 pocket wagon) emerges as a multifunctional double pocket wagon optimized for operations within the Iberian Peninsula, encompassing Spain and Portugal. Its design is highly adaptable, and capable of transporting Mega-Trailers up to 15,100 mm in length. A unique aspect of the T4000 is its compatibility with r2l baskets, facilitating the transport of non-cranable trailers. The wagon's technical specifications further underscore its efficiency and robustness: with a tare weight of 37.0 tons and a maximum load capacity of 98 tons, it supports an axle load of 22.5 tons. The total length over buffers is 34,200 mm, accommodating track gauges of both 1,435 mm and 1,668 mm. Its design allows for a maximum speed of 120 km/h, ensuring timely and efficient transportation. This combination of features positions the Sdggmrs T4000 as a versatile and highly capable addition to the intermodal transport sector, promising to elevate the standards of freight transportation across the Iberian Peninsula.
