The logistics terminal of OJE Logistics received its first freight train on 25 May 2025, marking the start of railway operations at the site.
The newly created logistics unit is designed for bimodal operation and positions itself as an independent node intended to serve regional industry, maritime shipping companies, and logistics and rail operators. The terminal infrastructure was developed with the goal of reinforcing the transport network around Entroncamento, a railway hub with historical relevance in the Portuguese network.
OJE Logistics plans to handle both domestic and international flows through the facility. By linking rail transport directly to its platform, the company intends to shift a portion of freight flows from road to rail. The objective is to increase operational capacity while aligning with regulatory targets on emission reductions.
The company also intends to position Entroncamento as a national logistics centre. The terminal is planned as an open-access platform, serving a broad client base across transport modes and supply chain sectors.
The integration of rail services is expected to play a role in the long-term strategy to increase intermodal capacity and network efficiency in Portugal.
