Together with Thermo King, Unit 45, H. Essers and Anthos, Wageningen University & Research developed in a Public Private Project called Fresh on Demand, an improved reefer container to enable train transport for perishables to destinations like China. The container is suitable to transport temperature-sensitive products like flower bumbs, fruit and vegetables, to many destinations.

Wageningen experts built mathematical models to analyse decisions about design improvements in the container beforehand, such as whether to apply better insulation or increase circulation.
