An exciting project for climate-friendly rail freight transport is currently being planned in Hamm (Westphalia). The once largest German marshalling yard will in future be a multimodal rail logistics hub with innovative loading technology that connects rail, road and waterways. On a 60-hectare site, DB Cargo is developing a multi-hub for sustainable freight transport together with the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the city of Hamm, the Railway and Transport Union (EVG) Hamm-Bielefeld and Kombiverkehr. In the future, 170,000 truck journeys can be put on the climate-friendly rail via the new "MULTI HUB Westfalen" in order to transport goods to their destination with the lowest possible CO2 footprint. And, of course, also to promote the transport transition in the freight sector and to achieve the climate goals. Efficient mobility and climate protection: the topics of Kombiverkehr. In order to coordinate the further development of the plant in a targeted manner, a separate agency was founded, in which Kombiverkehr is involved with a stake of 5 percent.
