Contargo Combitrac Straubing-Sand has started construction of a new container terminal

On May 14, the cornerstone was ceremonially laid for the construction of a container terminal in the port of Straubing-Sand. Contargo Combitrac Straubing-Sand GmbH, a combination of the container hinterland logistics network of Contargo, SFI GmbH and the Ziegler Group, will be responsible for the terminal's combined transport operations.

With the new container terminal at the port of Straubing-Sand, a new interface between road and rail transport is being created on an area of ​​around 50,000 square meters. The new terminal is expected to start operations in 2025 and will create up to 20 new jobs. Up to 1,000 TEU can be stored there and up to ten trains will arrive per week.

All involved see the bimodal terminal as an opportunity for more sustainable logistics in the region. It is also expected to contribute to greater flexibility in times of driver shortages and disrupted supply chains
