"The southern main line must not become a bottleneck"
There will be an increased demand for rail transport when the tunnel between Denmark and Germany is completed. But Sweden has done too little to be able to meet these needs, write debaters.
When the rail tunnel under the Fehmarn Belt between Denmark and Germany is inaugurated in 2029, sustainable rail transport to the continent will be 16 miles shorter in one fell swoop, while capacity through Denmark will increase. It creates new and more sustainable transport opportunities that business will want to use. But we see a big risk that the Södra main line will become a bottleneck for this development if measures are not taken.
