A contract for the expansion of the Euroterminal Sławków has been signed
Euroterminal Sławków will be expanded, thanks to which it will become a key logistics hub of the Central and Eastern European region. On Monday, May 26, an agreement was signed on the implementation of the second stage of the investment in the dry port in the Silesian Voivodeship.
The agreement on the expansion of the terminal was signed by the President of the Industrial Development Agency Wojciech Balczun, the President of Euroterminal Sławków Jakub Styczeń, the Vice President of the ARP Radosław Niedzielski and the Member of the Management Board of Euroterminal Sławków Jarosław Świc.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak and the Minister of Industry Marzena Czarnacka. The investment worth PLN 180 million will include the construction of container terminal no. 2 with 7 new railway tracks and the development of transshipment facilities.
The implementation of this project will increase the transshipment capacity of Euroterminal from the current 285 thousand TEU to 530 thousand TEU per year. Thanks to this, the largest dry port in the region will be created, with access to railway lines of European standard and the PKP LHS broad-gauge line.
- Today we have a chance to develop and repolonize Polish industry. Euroterminal Sławków is an excellent example of this. We have decided to co-finance the investment, thanks to which the transshipment capacity of this dry port will be doubled. And this means that here in Sławków we will have the largest logistics hub of this type in Europe - said Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
The investment in Sławków will be financed from the Industrial Development Agency (PLN 108 million) obtained from the Capital Investment Fund and from a grant from the EU programme European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment (FEnIKS) (PLN 73 million).
The largest dry port
— Without logistics, economic development cannot take place. What we are doing here is building the largest dry port in Central Europe. We are starting the second stage of the expansion of the Euroterminal, and there are plans for further stages. The value of this entire project is estimated at over one billion euros.
This is a large logistical investment and construction of infrastructure that will be a driving force for the entire economy of the region and Poland. The aspect related to the reconstruction of Ukraine is also important, because this is the end of the westernmost broad gauge in Europe. We are also starting preparations for further investments, because we have 20 ha of land here for development, and potentially another 50 ha could be available for further development — said Wojciech Balczun.
The Industrial Development Agency is buying from PKP Cargo Connect 50% of the shares in Terminale Przeładunkowe Sławków-Medyka, which is the owner of the land where container terminal no. 2 will be built. The main shareholder of Euroterminal Sławków is the CZH Group controlled by the Industrial Development Agency.
According to the announcements of government representatives, state treasury companies are to retain capital control over the logistics hub in the Silesian Voivodeship, which is of strategic importance to the country.
