Medlog acquires stakes in Ukrainian intermodal operator and terminal on Polish borders
The transaction involves a 50% stake in the intermodal operator N’UNIT and a 25% stake in the cross-border terminal Mostyska.
Swiss-based Medlog, the logistics subsidiary of Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), has completed the acquisition of shares in two Ukrainian logistics companies, Ukrainian Forbes reports.
The deal was confirmed by Yegor Grebennikov, co-owner of the TIS Group and founder of N’UNIT. Prior to the acquisition, Grebennikov held a full stake in N’UNIT and a 50% stake in Mostyska. Following the transaction, his holding in N’UNIT has been reduced to 50%, while his interest in the Mostyska terminal stands at 25%. The remaining 50% of the Mostyska terminal continues to be owned by Lemtrans, a company linked to Ukrainian businessman Rinat Akhmetov.
Forbes Ukraine has estimated the total value of the assets acquired by Medlog to be between approximately EUR 14 million to EUR 28 million.
The agreement was the result of negotiations lasting around a year. This represents the first reported acquisition by a large international logistics company involving Ukrainian rail freight assets since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine.
The cross-border terminal at Mostyska plays a role in rail freight operations at the Ukrainian-Polish border. N’UNIT is an intermodal logistics company operating in Ukraine’s rail freight and container transport sector.
