According to the Transport and Logistics Poland Employers' Association, about 105 thousand people were employed in Polish transport companies. truck drivers from Ukraine. Since the beginning of Russia's invasion of this country, approximately 25-30% of Ukrainian workers have taken unpaid leaves and left to fight in the war. In some companies, up to 80% of trucks were grounded for this reason.

The Northern Chamber of Commerce has conducted a study which shows that for 40% of companies in Poland, war may directly or indirectly threaten their functioning. 28% of companies are already feeling the effects of the war due to, for example, complications in the supply of raw materials or products. The TFL and construction sectors, which employ a lot of foreign workers, are most at risk.

In addition to the loss of workers, the problem is also the large increase in fuel and raw material prices and the loss of some markets caused by sanctions. The war in Ukraine took place at a time when the logistics industry has been struggling with problems caused by covid for two years, shortage of employees, high costs, disruptions in supply chains and, recently, additional cost-generating obligations introduced in the Mobility Package.
