Temperature-controlled train departs between Trieste and Rotterdam
The intermodal service operated by Alpeadria and powered by Lte is synergic with the new motorway of the sea started by Dfds with Egypt
At the same time and in parallel with the launch of the new sea motorway that connects the ports of Trieste and Damietta, in Egypt, the Austrian railway company Lte Logistics & Transport for Alpe Adria has also launched a rail transport service that in turn connects the Julian port with Rotterdam (Rail Service Center Roterdam). From the Dutch city, the products can continue towards the rest of Northern Europe or towards the United Kingdom. The transit time from departure from Egypt to the shelves is a maximum of 6 days.
The peculiarity is represented by the fact that this railway shuttle arrives from the Trieste terminal carrying, among other goods, reefer units connected to the PowerBox system, which is connected to the VTG wagons with Sws Power Solutions systems that convert kinetic energy into electrical energy. The PowerBox system is an innovative tool for the rail transport of temperature-controlled goods, such as fruit, vegetables, frozen products and more.
Both existing and new container wagons equipped with PowerBox have an autonomous and environmentally friendly energy supply for the operation of all common intermodal transport units.
Using the latest high-performance battery technology, the PowerBox solution is CO2-free and contributes to the sustainable transport of temperature-sensitive goods.
The shuttle departs from Trieste on Tuesday and arrives at the Rsc Rotterdam terminal on Wednesday evening. It departs from RSC Rotterdam for Trieste on Thursday evening.
The partners of this project are Alpeadria, Lte Olanda, Lte Italia, Peeman Transport, Dlg, Eskes Transport and Dfds.
