Administrator of the ILU-Code
Intermodal Loading units such as non ISO containers (swap bodies) and semi-trailers (craneable or not) must be identified with a unique identification code: the so-called ILU-Code which has been introduced in the EN 13044-1.
The ILU-Code, which is fully compatible with the worldwide BIC-code used for (maritime) containers according to ISO 6346, is composed of three parts:
- 4 letters for the owner-code (for example ABCA)
- 6 digits for the registration number (for example 001234)
- 1 check digit (based on a given calculation procedure)
More information on the ILU-Code related services offered by UIRR are available on the ILU-Code website: www.ilu-code.eu. Since July 2011, UIRR is the official Administrator of the ILU-Code Owner-key. More than 1,000 owner-keys have been reserved by owners and keepers of intermodal loading units.
