The main goal of BRIDGE is to assist the intermodal freight community with the implementation of the current TAF TSI Regulation, as well as the new TSI Telematics, from a door-to-door perspective.
- BRIDGE will mainly focus on fostering (1) seamless data sharing integration, (2) harmonisation and standardisation of physical and digital processes and (3) data interoperability between the involved intermodal stakeholders, with a particular attention to the intermodal transport operators and terminal managers.
- BRIDGE will improve and strengthen predominantly the rail-road-maritime data sharing among all intermodal stakeholders, thus enhancing the operational efficiency of door-to-door intermodal freight services. This will make these services more attractive for end-customers (logistics service providers and shippers) and contribute to the overall growth of European rail freight.
- BRIDGE will analyse the current state of data sharing in the intermodal freight transport ecosystem, with a state-of-the-art review, process analysis, and gap identification.
- BRIDGE will test implementable solutions by upgrading telematics applications used in daily operations by various intermodal stakeholders with a particular attention to the end-customers, intermodal operators and terminal managers. BRIDGE will also deliver governance and business models, standardisation, and cost-benefit analyses, with a focus on SME inclusion and lowering entry barriers. The project is set to design implementation guidelines and a realistic roadmap aligned with TSI Telematics regulation.
- BRIDGE will build on the standardisation, harmonisation and interoperability improvements initiated and implemented in previous European CEF-funded projects such as EDICT, Digital Train 1.0 and 2.0 to improve the digitalisation maturity and penetration in a door-to-door perspective. The project will ensure the exchange and integration of key TAF TSI messages into the intermodal digital freight ecosystem.
Coordinated by UIRR, BRIDGE consists of a consortium of 20 project partners representing all types of intermodal stakeholders (LSPs, terminals, intermodal operators, railway undertakings, port authorities, IT providers). The project, started in October 2025, has a duration of 36 months.
