Enhancing Intermodal Freight through Digital Collaboration
UIRR, together with ECTA and ERFA, is proud to announce the release of three new digital best practice guidelines, marking a key milestone for the Intermodal Digitalisation Workgroup launched in early 2025.
Over the past nine months, our collaboration has laid the foundations for a common digital data model across the intermodal supply chain, improving efficiency, transparency, and cooperation.
These guidelines aim to:
✅Streamline communication and data exchange
✅Reduce administrative costs and paperwork
✅Enable real-time logistics planning and execution
✅Strengthen intermodal freight competitiveness in Europe
Now available on the UIRR website:
1️⃣ Digital data sharing principles
2️⃣ Standardised booking and terminal processes
3️⃣ Data exchange between RUs, CTOs, and terminals
Next, we will focus on communicating and operationalising these guidelines through webinars and stakeholder engagement to ensure that digitalisation continues to enhance intermodal freight across Europe.
