The European Green Deal (EGD)¹ published on 11 December 2019 identifies zero-carbon Combined Transport as a powerful solution to deliver the decarbonisation required of longer distance freight transport.  Combined Transport requires coordinated action from every stakeholder to live up to the challenge.

Since December 2019, a range of actions have been added to the  EGD timeline on the Commission’s website² that prescribe a roadmap of necessary actions.

UIRR has released the Roadmap titled Combined Transport in light of the European Green Deal³, which depicts the actions needed for Combined Transport to deliver the results expected of it  under the EGD.

The Roadmap, authored by Logistics Advisory Experts GmbH under    the guidance of Professor Wolfgang Stölzle, details the actions          needed broken down into four groups of actors:

The European Green Deal objectives will be achievable from the perspective of longer distance surface freight transport through the implementation of the measures outlined in the Roadmap, which UIRR wholeheartedly recommends to the attention of every European transport policymaker.
