14.01.2026 | The fleet consists of 80-foot and 90-foot wagons for Iberian gauge container transport, alongside T4000 wagons designed for semi-trailer traffic on planned rail motorway services.
VTG has placed 399 newly built intermodal wagons into service in Spain. The 80' and 90' wagons are intended to carry all standard container types on the Iberian network. The T4000 wagons are specified for the transport of semi-trailers, supporting unaccompanied combined transport on domestic corridors within Spain.
The project has been financed through Next Generation EU funds under Spain’s Programa de Apoyo al Transporte Sostenible y Digital (PATSYD). The funding is part of the national Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) managed by the Ministerio de Transportes y Movilidad Sostenible.
VTG operates one of Europe’s largest private freight wagon fleets and supplies wagons for intermodal, bulk and specialised freight traffic across multiple national networks, including Iberian gauge operations in Spain and Portugal.
