The Swiss intermodal operator Hupac has announced a new service from the intermodal terminal of La Llagosta (Barcelona), an infrastructure that manages in joint venture with the Spanish TPNova (Port Transport) since this year. It is a connection to the Gateway Terminal in Duisburg (Germany), which will operate three times a week in return with Captrain traction (SNCF). Sources of the Swiss firm have confirmed that the train will be the first to use “Euro 6000 locomotives” of Stadler “interoperable that make the Barcelona-Dijon route”, that is, to reach that demarcation of France without making a change of machine.

Hupac is in the process of attracting new customers

The new line starts on June 22, with rotations on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The service is open to containers and P400 semi-trailers, i.e. to railway highway traffic, and also to dangerous goods. Hupac sources have moved to this publication that the service, like the majority of those launched by the company, “is based on guaranteed base volumes”, and also points out that they are “in the process of attracting new customers” to use it. From the company based in Chiasso it is estimated that the service “is particularly attractive” because “it allows to connect product from Barcelona via Duisburg with our terminal in Brwinów, Poland, and with the southeast of Europe”.

Duisburg joins other destinations that had already been announced since the start of La Llagosta, in January. In Spain, Hupac is marketing, together with partners, routes to Madrid and Seville, and has shuttles with the ports of Barcelona and Tarragona. Likewise, from the terminal have also been making connections with Antwerp (Belgium), and it is pending to recover the Hupac service between Barcelona and Busto Arsizio (Italy), which was formerly held in the Barcelona terminal of Can Tunis. It should be remembered that La Llagosta is still in the development phase and does not operate in full of its capabilities.
