03.09.2025 | METRANS and Volvo Trucks today unveiled the first deployment of six electric trucks in the Czech Republic. This is the largest fleet of electric vehicles of this type in the country and an important step for METRANS towards sustainable logistics.
The electric trucks will be used primarily in the first and last mile, meaning urban and suburban transport, where noise and emissions must be minimized. This step will allow METRANS to further reduce its carbon footprint and contribute to improved air quality in densely populated areas.
"Electric trucks are an important investment in the future for us. It's not just about modern technology, but also about a clear commitment to our customers and society at large – we want to show that ecology and business can go hand in hand," said Peter Kiss, CEO of METRANS.
METRANS has long focused on developing environmentally friendly solutions in transport and logistics. These electric tractor units complement existing rail and multimodal logistics initiatives, enabling the transportation of as much freight as possible from road to rail – contributing to a more sustainable future for European transport. "Volvo Trucks greatly appreciates the collaboration with METRANS on the road to a sustainable future for transport and logistics. The Volvo FH Electric is a powerful, zero-emission truck that uncompromisingly meets the demands of today's modern logistics," says John Muldoon, Director of Volvo Group Czech Republic.
Metrans therefore also contributes to the HHLA Group's overall sustainability goal of achieving climate-neutral production by 2040.
