31.12.2025 | Cargotor will be transferred to the national infrastructure manager. PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe SA (PKP Polish Railway Lines) today concluded an agreement with PKP Cargo SA (PKP Cargo SA) in restructuring regarding the acquisition of the company that manages railway infrastructure in the Małaszewicze Transshipment Region.

The decision to incorporate Cargotor into PKP PLK was preceded by preparations that included due diligence, analysis of various transaction scenarios, and company management options. Cargotor manages infrastructure comprising 1520 mm gauge railway lines with a total length of 180 km located in the Małaszewicze Transshipment Area, as well as 18 forwarding points located in several voivodeships.

The change in ownership structure should facilitate the implementation of Cargotor's investment plans, which include modernizing infrastructure in the Małaszewicze area, a key logistics hub and a so-called "dry port" on the New Silk Road railway connecting China with Europe. The "Małaszewicze Logistics Park" project includes the installation of a modern rail traffic control system and other investments that will increase the capacity of this railway hub.

The agreement is a very important step towards the modernization and development of the Małaszewicze Transshipment Area, which is crucial for the region, said Marek Słomka, President of the Management Board of Cargotor Sp. z o.o.

In 2024, Cargotor handled 226,000 rail wagons, which translated into PLN 6 billion in revenue for the state budget from customs duties and VAT. According to plans, the modernization of the rail infrastructure in Małaszewicze will increase the capacity of freight trains from the current 16 to 35 pairs per day and adapt the transshipment area to accommodate 1,050-meter-long trains with a maximum axle load of 25 tons.
