Tatravagónka produces 400 flat wagons for VTG and SSAB

After ramp-up, monthly output is planned at 40 to 60 wagons, with production scheduled to continue through the end of September.
Tatravagónka has launched series production of 400 Sgmmns(s) 40’ intermodal wagons, with the first vehicles completed at the end of February. The wagons will be leased by VTG to the Swedish steel producer SSAB.
The Sgmmns(s) 40’ wagon is designed for the transport of 20’, 30’ and 40’ containers, primarily heavy units. Its frame is rated for a 25-tonne axle load, and the wagons are equipped with disc brakes. Part of the series will be fitted with a handbrake, while the remainder will be delivered without it.
The wagons are manufactured using materials and components approved for operation at temperatures down to –40°C, allowing deployment in Nordic countries. Series production began in early January, and the Slovak manufacturer dedicated an entire production line to this order.
Following technical acceptance, logistics and sales teams will coordinate the loading of customer-supplied superstructure components before the wagons are released for dispatch.
