15.04.2025 | The call for project proposals will remain open until 26 September 2025.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Transport and Communications has opened a funding procedure under the Transport Connectivity Programme 2021–2027 to support intermodal terminal operators.

The programme is focused on co-financing investments in modernisation and extension of existing intermodal infrastructure. Each project may receive between EUR 770,000 to EUR 2 million, covering up to 50% of eligible costs.

Eligible investments include the procurement of zero-emission shunting locomotives and the installation of updated IT systems for transport management. Funding can also be used for railway and road infrastructure upgrades at intermodal terminals.

The initiative is open to operators across Bulgaria, excluding the southwest planning region. The goal is to increase the efficiency and operational capacity of combined transport nodes in line with the priorities set by the national transport strategy.

All support will be granted under the conditions defined in the Transport Connectivity Programme, which is co-financed by the European Union. Project evaluation and fund allocation will follow the guidelines established for the 2021–2027 programming period.
